National Open College is affiliated to Pokhara University for full time Degree programmes and to Higher Secondary Education Board of Nepal (HSEB, Nepal) for higher secondary programme. It is also affiliated to Nepal Engineers' Association for Engineering Short Courses.

Pokhara University (PU)

Background: His Majesty’s Government of Nepal revised the concept of a single university and adopted a policy of establishing several universities and colleges in view of the country’s growing demand for competent human resources. The government explicitly documented in the 9th plan its commitment to provide opportunity of higher education to relatively deprived groups of population in various parts of the country, and also to establish at least one university in each of its five development regions.

PU Objective: In order to change this vision into reality, Pokhara University, as an autonomous institution of higher learning, was established under the Pokhara University Act in 1997. The act has granted the University full authority to mobilize resources both internally and externally, and conduct academic and other human resource development programs. The main campus of the university is located at a serene locale called Dhungepatan of Lekhanath Muicipality.

The Higher Secondary Education Board, Nepal (HSEB, Nepal) B

Background: The Higher Secondary Program is affiliated to the Higher Secondary Education Board, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur. The Higher secondary Education Board has been established to widen the horizon of the common people and their opportunities of Higher Education across the country and to materialize the fundamental concept of the 9th Plan of National Education Commission, 2049 BS. HSEB Objectives:

Fundamental objectives of the HSEB program are as mentioned below:

  • To provide higher secondary education to the students of remote areas in their own places.
  • To orient the students towards specification and academic maturity.
  • To produce higher level skilled manpower.
  • To uplift the standard of our education to the level of other SAARC countries.
